Implant dentistry

Implant dentistry allows the replacement of missing teeth with dental implants that can look, feel and function like a natural tooth in the mouth.

An implant restoration consists of 3 parts: 1)The titanium implant which is surgically inserted in the jaw bone, 2) the abutment which is screwed onto the top of the implant 3) the crown which is shaped like the missing tooth and retained over the abutment

The implant is surgically placed by a surgeon or periondontist in the jaw bone and the bone allowed to heal around it. This can take 3- 12 weeks in a process known as osseointegration.

In most cases, for single tooth replacement, the implant can be placed surgically under local anaesthetic. The procedure is minimally traumatic and there is minimal post surgical down time

As your restorative dentist, we then place the abutment and crown over the implant.

We recommend premium implant brands as their products have been tested and trialed and backed by scientific research. Only genuine components are used to build up the implant crown and not 3rd party replicas. Genuine components are more costly but the use of replicas voids the implant manufacturer’s warranty.

Implant dentistry is the most advanced technique for the replacement of missing teeth.
